Pilot 04:08
Fly, fly off to the sky on an astral plane say goodbye. No wife, no kids, compare to the thrill of the starry grid when you arrive. Wanna go light … living this life. It wasn’t always this way, you’re too young to lose, too old to play or so they say. You heard your call, living in the golden chord then you were gone. It makes you feel high … but it’s a lie. They say you never cared for anyone. They say you never showed your face. It’s true you had to tell your son, you’ve gone to find the other one … Wanna go high … living this lie…

Cosmic Holiday 5–4–3 two above, one below. How long were you gone? It seems like a moment ago. You’re about to land with your valentine in hand. What did they say, hey on your Cosmic Holiday? Did they tell you that … 3–4–5 Stars are alive. One might implode. What will you leave behind when it’s time to explode? Your eternal spring is written in your brain. Put your hand to the sky, you’ll feel those children swing if you let ‘em fly. Take off. You won’t survive the next election, not with your keen perception, that holy vision. You’re about to land With your valentine in hand. Did they teach you to pray on your Cosmic Holiday? Use your electric moves, you better blow our minds real soon. We need a new God on high, someone else to fry on the electric tube.… There’s so much more to find I know it’s gonna be a long time but we gotta get on outta here. Let’s go!

Beneath the Sun Hang low, moon glow, you choose the road you’re on. Satellite find me I’m so lonely, guide me to the dawn. Where we’ll sleep beneath the sun, it sings for everyone. It’s where I want to be. The wind blows endlessly it gathers up the broken dreams and carries them away to the sea. The autumn sky, breathes in your eyes, I swear I saw the universe today. Trapped in you gaze I’ll spend the rest of my days soaring through the Milky Way. We’ll sleep beneath the sun, it sings for everyone. It’s where I want to be. The wind blows endlessly it gathers up the broken dreams and carries them away to the sea. Arrows burst through the clouds fall like rain all around. They strike the lucky ones down. Look up, above my love, be who you are. All lonely-hearts end, that’s what the sky says. But stars go on and on and on… We’ll sleep beneath the sun, it sings for everyone. It’s where I’m gonna be. The wind blows endlessly it gathers up the broken dreams, please take me away to the sea.

Sweetest Memories Who holds the rain, who holds the reins in their hands? You made a promise to yourself you won’t give it up again. All your carefully laid plans on the ground look around. You need the sun but you want the one who took it away to give it back to you today, they’ll break your heart the same way. Don’t think you know who you are people change. One day you’ll wake up to find that all of your sweetest memories weren’t so kind. But if those dreams of yours should fade away, bring them back another way, you can always change what you see to suit your needs. The leaves are turning red you can always pretend they’ll be green again won’t you? Won’t you?

Don’t Let Me Down Again Don’t let me down again to be on your own life is too hard to be in it alone. Bring it all back, sell it for free hold up your end my friend so it won’t fall on me. I hear you’re leaving town again I’m on your side there is no guarantee I will be next time. Summer is gone, it’s dying down we’ll burn the clouds from our eyes as we sink to the ground

about

"The Last Cathedral" is Violet's follow up to their debut record "We Both Know It's Out There". Meredith Minogue and Jim Barry created Wine & Vinyl Music in 2001 as a way to release their records.

Violet plays modern folk. They live in Brooklyn, NY and record with a group of musicians.

For both of their records, Violet linked up with producer Adam Lasus, who had previously worked with Yo La Tengo, Helium, Clem Snide and Madder Rose. Adam's studio, a converted 19th century firehouse, proved the perfect setting for the duo to craft its blend of the old and new. "The Last Cathedral" is a modern album that recalls the analog warmth of the 60s and 70s.
